Capital Campaign to Build an Animal Rescue & Adoption Centre in Greater Victoria

The need is urgent.
The dream is big.

Since 2013, the Victoria Humane Society has rescued thousands of dogs and cats. Did you know that we’ve done all this without a dedicated rescue facility? Yet still, we are flooded with requests to take in animals in vulnerable situations every single day — and sadly, we have to turn many away. With your support, a new VHS Rescue & Adoption Centre will help save them.

Help build the VHS
Rescue & Adoption Centre.

Thanks to a major donation, we have secured a 38-acre property upon which to build a VHS Rescue & Adoption Centre in Greater Victoria. Capital funds are now required to build a unique facility that can help animals in a humane setting, with spaces to run, play and receive rehab and training.

The vision.
A one-of-a-kind facility

With a sizeable 38-acre property, the Centre will be totally unique — an outdoor property and indoor rescue space that allows for animals to de-stress, exercise, receive care and training, and be assessed and socialized for successful adoptions. Nothing like this currently exists in Greater Victoria or on Vancouver Island. The capacity for rescue
efforts will be unprecedented.

Success Stories

Severely burned, only VHS was willing to step up for this dog. Love, tenacity in his care, and compassion for his suffering brought him back to life. Fittingly, as he recovered, VHS named him Rebound, and I adopted him. I am so grateful to VHS.

Success Stories

I believe it’s the animals we rescue who rescue us in the end. They bring joy, they bring love and they bring people together. We are proud to support VHS. They go beyond to help animals in need. I can’t think of a more worthy cause that the creation of this rescue centre.
